R & I @ Church Hill Downs 7.1.05

We got great box seats thanks to a friend of ours who owns some Race horses, thanks Rob! R had 6 tickets so invited a few of his business associates to meet us there. We had a blast, didn't win much but lose a lot either. Although most of what we did do was exacta betting for the 1st & 2nd place exactly. It was quite a warm day but we all found a sunny spot on the paddock side of the race track and hung out there most of the day. The new renovations are just gorgeous! We also got to see the Hand Blown Glass Sculpture with over 4,000 pieces of Church Hill Downs complete with people in the stands and horse the whole camadre of what the race track is all about. Beautifully done, they said it took 4 yrs to complete. (see info below)

Installation Of Ken Vonroenn Glass Sculpture In Churchill's New Gate 17 Set For Completion On Thursday, April 14

April 13, 2005 -- Installation is scheduled to be completed on Thursday, April 14 for one of the most striking pieces of original art set for display in the rebuilt clubhouse at Churchill Downs - a 14-foot, 1,500 pound equine sculpture in glass by Louisville's Ken vonRoenn.

The still unnamed glass sculpture, which measures 12 feet in diameter, is the focal point of the track's new grand entrance at Gate 17, which is located adjacent to the paddock. That new entrance will serve as a key entry point for guests who visit Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Derby and Oaks, the track's Spring and Fall racing meets, and other year round activities scheduled throughout the year at the historic track.

The sculpture by vonRoenn, which is topped by the heads of three horses that represent the three races of the Triple Crown, has been suspended from near the top of the entrance's three-story glass atrium. While visitors to the track who enter the facility through Gate 17 will get a close up look at vonRoenn's work, the glass sculpture will be
brightly lit and clearly visible to passersby throughout the year.

David Crowder Band Concert 6.26.05

I just had to come and post about going to see the David Crowder Band concert last night
@ Southeast Christian Church- The Vine service.

It was totally AWESOME!

Z had to go down in front of course with all of his friends, R & I took M to the balconey to get a better view since we knew everyone down on the main floor would be standing. M just LOVED it! She was jumping up and down as much as the teens were down in front!

Here are some pics.

Z-is practicing soccer @ the HS every morning at 7am sharp!
He is looking forward to his Jr. year in HS. He is still seriously considering majoring in communications when it comes to a college major. I can hardly believe my little boy is now almost grown and is 16 yrs old!
I told him he has to get a job before he can drive, after all I only have a few more years to teach him 'responsiblity"

Something New

Okay, so I'm trying this thing referred to as "A Blog"--" Life In The Creek" or at least that is what I am calling it. It's purpose is to keep family and friends that don't live near us updated on R,V, M & Z & our Bishon Frise too. More so at their convenience and as time permits they can see whats going on. Let me know what you think and if you have any questions or comments leave them in the comment area.

Let's see if I can do this...
I going to try to get pictures on here in a day or so.
